Naoya Inoue defends his undisputed tremendous bantamweight championship in opposition to Luis Nery on Could sixth on the Tokyo Dome in Japan. The struggle was introduced final month, however Prime Rank is saying it once more for some purpose.
Sadly, many U.S. boxing followers received’t see this occasion dwell because of the early morning time on ESPN+. It begins at 4 a.m. ET/1 a.m. PT. East Coast followers seemingly received’t be up at 4 am to observe the cardboard on ESPN+. The time is inconvenient for U.S followers.
A Much less Than Splendid Match-Up
Maybe Prime Rank figured that U.S. followers wouldn’t be wanting to see the occasion as a result of Inoue selected Nery, a fighter who was knocked out not too long ago. That is the unsuitable man for Monster Inoue to be preventing if he needs to get U.S. followers enthusiastic about his Could sixth occasion.
Put Inoue in with Luis Alberto Lopez, and also you’ve obtained an American viewers that will be greater than keen to stand up at 4:00 am to observe it.
Prime Rank calls this “the largest boxing occasion” Japan has ever seen. however it’s unclear why. Nery was already knocked out by Brandon Figueroa in 2021
. The undercard is a blended bag for Could sixth, with some okay fights, however nothing out of this world for it to be known as the “largest boxing occasion” within the historical past of Japan.
Undercard A Blended Bag
- Jason “Mayhem” Moloney vs. Yoshiki Takei
- Takuma Inoue vs. Sho Ishida
Seigo Yuri Akui vs. Taku Kuwahara
It’s an honest scrap, however not the struggle that followers needed. Inoue is hoping again transferring up featherweight after the powerful time he had in his final struggle in opposition to Marlon Taples.
The Lopez Issue
That was a grueling match for ‘Monster’ Inoue, so it’s not stunning that he’s determined to remain at 122 relatively than go as much as 126 and be anticipated to face Luis Alberto Lopez, Raymond Ford, Rey Vargas, and Robeisy Ramirez.
“Naoya Inoue is the world’s finest fighter, a younger man who amazes me each time he enters the ring. Luis Nery is a tricky challenger, however I absolutely anticipate Inoue to get the job carried out in entrance of greater than 50,000 followers on the Tokyo Dome,” mentioned Prime Rank promoter Bob Arum.
“Along with this unbelievable predominant occasion, we’ve a spectacular undercard highlighted by Jason Moloney, a highway warrior coming to Japan decided to point out he’s the world’s finest bantamweight.”
