The New York Giants maintain the sixth general decide within the 2024 NFL draft and it’s not overly troublesome to find out their plans.
If one of many high three quarterbacks falls to them, it might be unimaginable to move that chance up. In the event that they don’t, normal supervisor Joe Schoen could have his decide of the highest remaining broad receivers (assuming Marvin Harrison Jr. is gone).
There are different choices, nevertheless. And the Giants have begun exploring them.
Ralph Vacchiano of FOX Sports studies that the Giants have inquired about probably buying and selling up. And probably buying and selling down.
A number of league sources mentioned the Giants have made inquiries about buying and selling up. It also needs to be famous that they’ve talked to no less than one staff about buying and selling down, so these conversations could also be extra due diligence than the rest.
If the Giants do transfer in Spherical 1, it’s extra prone to be a trade-back than a trade-up.
As Vacchiano notes, the Chicago Bears, Washington Commanders, and New England Patriots are all however locked into place 1-2-3. There’s additionally the growing chance that the Minnesota Vikings commerce as much as both No. 5 or No. 6 with a goal on J.J. McCarthy or no matter different quarterback falls to these spots.
Additionally, preserve two different issues in thoughts: For all of the discuss buying and selling out of the top-3 picks, there aren’t many individuals across the NFL that basically suppose the Bears, Commanders or Patriots would try this once they all want a franchise quarterback. The Cardinals and Chargers at 4 and 5 definitely might commerce down, however the Vikings — who simply acquired a second first-round decide and may provide each 11 and 23 — most likely can and can provide greater than the Giants.
In different phrases, the Giants buying and selling up appears unlikely, too.
The Giants do want extra draft belongings given the barren nature of their roster, however 4 quarterbacks being taken over the primary six picks truly bodes effectively for normal supervisor Joe Schoen.
Given the team’s commitment to Daniel Jones, their finest plan of action can be to take the highest accessible broad receiver. And on this state of affairs, they could get fortunate and have their decide of Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze.
