Earlier than we dive deep into numerous hours rearranging lineups, FAAB bids, and making commerce presents as a way to win a pair hundred {dollars} in our family and friends league, which equates to roughly twenty-eight cents per hour, we right here at Razzball wish to take a second and doc some predictions for the upcoming season. These preseason predictions are a mixture of actual baseball (MVP, ROY, Cy Younger, and so forth.) and pretend baseball (who’s our infatuation; who will return essentially the most worth; who will flop). We do that each season, and we haven’t realized any lesson ever, so right here it’s once more! Right here is LAST YEAR‘s publish should you’re . For each right prediction, there are loads who thought Oscar Colas and Alek Manoah had been going to matter.

With out additional ado, listed below are the Razzball employees picks for the upcoming season together with a couple of blurbs from the employees on why they made the alternatives they did. Psyche! One additional ado, this season’s first Purchase/Promote is now obtainable on our Patreon. It will likely be posted early on the Patreon all yr, so join that. Anyway II, the picks:

AL Cy Younger

Kevin Gausman: “Yep. The hometown bias is working extra time with this one. In my protection, although, all of it traces up this time. With the favourite, Gerrit Cole, happening with an harm for an prolonged time period, the door is extensive open for the AL Cy Younger award. I’ve appreciated Gausman for a very long time that dates again to his days in Baltimore, which coincides with how lengthy the Jays had chased Gausman till lastly signing him in 2022.  That strikeout splitter helped silence any whispers from the naysayers who thought the transfer to the AL East could be his downfall. Final Thursday he threw a two inning simulated sport with no issues so if he can proceed to construct up arm power and keep away from beginning the yr on the IL, he’s a entrance runner on this race.” – MarmosDad

NL ROY

Michael Busch:  “Why not?  He was the PCL participant of the yr, has a protracted runway in Chicago who paid a premium prospect value to acquire his companies.  .260 with 25 HR appears cheap with upside.” – Kelder

Comeback Participant

Rhys Hoskins: “After being out with harm in 2023 Hoskins returns as the important thing in the course of a Brewers lineup. He’ll have loads of probabilities to drive in runs hitting cleanup. In 2022 he completed forty eighth on the Razzball participant rater and so long as he didn’t neglect the best way to hit whereas out final yr he needs to be retuning properly above funding for fantasy and has an amazing probability to win the comeback participant of the yr in MLB.” – The Great Knoche

Tyler Kinley (additionally decide for MVFP): “Because the resident bullpen author, I gotta go together with a pen arm. Tyler Kinley didn’t pitch a lot in 2023, and when he did, he was fairly ding dang horrible. I really feel like of us neglect 1). how good he was in 2022 and a pair of). that he’s overtly competing for a closing job he’s already received with a nearly-flawless Spring, whereas counterpart Justin Lawrence has been nearly-flaw…full? Rockies closers are scary, but when Daniel Bard can do it, Tyler Kinley can do it as properly.” – JKJ

Sleeper

Jung Hoo Lee:  “Am I extensively excited to see what he can do within the MLB? Sure completely. From a factors league standpoint, his sport seems to be like will probably be absolute gold. I virtually put him as my rookie of the yr decide, however that felt like dipping into the properly too many instances.” – Butters

Most Worthwhile Fantasy Pitcher

Shota Imanaga: “Whereas I received’t go so far as some to say that Imanaga will outperform Yamamoto (sure, even after the dangerous begin in Korea.  It’s early…too early.) I do suppose Imanaga is in that candy spot of the draft the place you may seize him round decide 200 (although that’s as much as round decide 150 now because the hype grows) and get close to ace-like numbers for a fraction of the price.  Worth central.” – MattTruss
