Promoter Floyd Mayweather Jr. posted a message of assist for his defeated secure fighter Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero, who was crushed by light-weight Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz in eight rounds final Saturday evening in Las Vegas.
Mayweather’s Drawback: Lower Free or Milk him Dry?
Whereas it’s good that Mayweather is attempting to spice up Rolly’s spirit, that received’t assist his profession. He doesn’t have the expertise to compete with ANY of the highest ten fighters at 140, and he’s too mediocre to reinvent himself at 147 or 154. Even with Mayweather’s assist, Rolly has no future as a significant participant in any division.
Mayweather might want to work out what he needs to do with Rolly. Does Floyd dump Rolly or hold him along with his promotional secure, trying to put him in in opposition to Ryan Garcia if he loses to WBA gentle welterweight champion Devin Haney of their combat on April twentieth?
Boneheaded Transfer of the Yr
Rolly might make some cash in opposition to a down-and-out Ryan after Haney beats him, however that’s about the most effective he can hope for. Nevertheless, Ryan already stated he needs nothing to do with Rolly after he walked away from their negotiations to take a smaller payday in opposition to Pitbull Cruz within the co-feature spot on the undercard of the Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora card final Saturday evening on Prime Video PPV.
It’s believed that Rolly’s transfer could have price him many tens of millions. He would have made a ton of cash preventing Ryan, and he possible didn’t get a lot for his undercard combat in opposition to Cruz.
To say that was a silly transfer on Rolly’s half to reject the Ryan Garcia combat in favor of an undercard match in opposition to Pitbull Cruz is an understatement. Whoever talked Rolly into making that selection actually messed him up BAD.
Floyd’s Fluffery Falls Flat
“Rolliesss, maintain your head up excessive! I’m extremely pleased with you for reaching the exceptional feat of turning into a 2-time world champion in lower than 18 fights, all with none prior newbie background, and in simply 14 years of complete preventing expertise,” stated Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Instagram, attempting to cheer up his fighter Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero after he was destroyed by Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz final Saturday evening.
“On this journey, we name life, you’ll win, and also you’ll lose; that’s the sport. However in life, all of us face losses, together with myself. So bear in mind, when folks attempt to knock you down, don’t let it hold you there. Get again up, keep true to your self, and acknowledge simply how a lot you’ve completed.”
Rolly won’t be given any world title pictures at this efficiency, and there aren’t any vacant belts for him to seize, as we noticed him profitable a controversial ninth-round knockout in opposition to 40-year-old Ismael Barroso in 2023.
WBA gentle welterweight champion Rolly (15-2, 13 KOs) seemed overmatched from the get-go, coming near getting knocked out within the first spherical by the 5’4″ Pitbull Cruz (26-2-1, 18 KOs), who was picked out as his opponent from the 135-lb division in what many was a technique to give Romero a greater probability of holding onto his strap.
