Conor Benn addressed the rumors at this time that he would struggle retired boxing legend Manny Pacquiao subsequent, saying that His Excellency could make the struggle occur in Saudi Arabia.
Unbeaten welterweight contender Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) was in Riyadh at this time for the Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou weigh-in. Followers can put two and two collectively, seeing Benn on the weigh-in in Riyadh with Pacquiao there too.
They doubtless have been invited by the Saudis, which may imply just one factor. His Excellency goes to place this gimmick-level struggle collectively and promote it to the general public on DAZN PPV like we’re seeing with the previous two-time heavyweight champion Joshua dealing with the ex-UFC champion Ngannou in an oddball conflict that shouldn’t occur in the actual sense.
You possibly can’t take a handful of random individuals enjoying within the park and throw them into the NFL, have them tackle a group, and cost followers to look at. It’s simply so incorrect. That sends a robust message to followers. Should you’ve obtained a man or group with a great deal of cash, they’ll make ANY struggle, regardless of how weird, and promote it to the general public. It’ll be sanctioned and blessed by the fee.
At one level, he met with the 45-year-old Pacquiao, shaking arms and smiling just like the Cheshire cat from ear to ear. That smile on Benn’s gob stated all of it. He needs the struggle towards the previous eight-division world champion Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) so badly that he can’t assist himself.
“I can’t affirm or deny. If there’s anybody who could make fights occur, it’s His Excellency right here in Saudi Arabia. The general public needs that struggle, so for me, it’s a matter of giving the general public that struggle,” stated Conor Benn to CharIie Parsons’ YouTube channel.
The remark that the 27-year-old Benn makes about “the general public needs the struggle” is difficult to underson, because the boxing public aren’t asking for Pacquiao-Benn conflict to occur. Nobody needs to see that mess.
Pacquiao is nearing 46, has been retired since his loss to Yordenis Ugas in 2021, and he regarded washed in that contest. Benn ought to be combating IBF welterweight champion Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, who would give him a title shot in a scorching second if he needed to face him.
The truth that Benn is pushing for a struggle towards Pacquiao with out proving himself within the sport tells you what his profession is all about. It’s simply to make just a little coin after which get out with out attempting to win a world title.
