Devin Haney and his father, Invoice, have been left excessive & dry after Ryan Garcia moved on, selecting to not go forward with the combat.
The Haney’s may throw gasoline on the hearth, making issues worse for themselves relying on who they choose for his or her subsequent opponent. Ryan will probably be on the sidelines, snickering when Haney’s subsequent combat is introduced if it’s one of many obscure contenders within the 140-lb rankings.
Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) appeared totally vindictive yesterday, lashing out at Ryan on social media, speaking about how he’s solely fought as soon as on PPV not too long ago.
The Haneys haven’t mentioned which route they’ll go in now that the combat with well-liked social media star Ryan Garcia isn’t occurring.
Ryan Calls The Pictures
Devin could not prefer it, however Ryan Garcia is the King of the 140-lb division based mostly on his previous success and his 11 million Instagram followers, a lot of whom will eagerly buy his subsequent combat towards WBA mild welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero on Could fifth.
As Ryan recommended, Haney can defend his newly gained WBC mild welterweight title towards Richardson Hitchins subsequent. Ryan will probably be laughing at Haney if he dares to place a possible combat with Hitchins on DAZN PPV, because the buys won’t even hit 30K.
For Haney to maintain that belt, he may need to defend towards his WBC obligatory Sandor Martin, and that’s not a marketable combat both.
Because the WBC mild welterweight champion and former undisputed champ, Devin desires to be the A-side in a combat with Ryan Garcia, however that doesn’t imply something as a result of Kingry is the one which sells on PPV.
Ryan has a superior buyrate than Haney based mostly on the a million+ buys his combat with Gervonta Davis introduced in final 12 months.
Haney Blew It
You’ll be able to argue that Haney shot himself within the foot by selecting to combat WBC 140-lb champion Regis Prograis on PPV final December on DAZN, pricing it at $75, making issues worse.
That was the dumbest transfer possible on Haney’s half, sticking this albatross on PPV, considering followers would need to purchase it, and packaging it with a horrible undercard that was one of many worst this author has ever seen on an costly pay-per-view card.
That was NOT a PPV-worthy combat, and the reported 50K buys the combat introduced in have undermined Haney’s potential to name the pictures because the A-side towards Ryan Garcia, who’s the one one within the 140-lb division that may promote in a combat with him.
In boxing, cash makes the world go round, and nothing else issues. Whoever sells is the King, and proper now, Ryan (24-1, 20 KOs) is sitting on the throne at 140.
The champions Haney, Teofimo Lopez, and Subriel Matias may as nicely be common contenders as a result of they’re not on Ryan’s degree within the money-making division.
