Welcome again once more, people. Whereas I can’t say that I’m pleased with myself for arising with the title for this week’s MI article, I need to say that I’m fairly pleased with it.
Whereas Cody Rhodes completed his story at Wrestlemania XL, MLB had a Story of its personal completed… albeit quickly. Trevor Story suffered an unlucky harm diving for a ball deep within the gap at shortstop towards the Angels on Friday evening, dislocating his shoulder.
Story, who had spent his complete profession with the Rockies within the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Subject, joined the Crimson Sox in free company in 2022, however has skilled a string of horrible luck on the harm entrance. In 2022, he was sidelined for a major period of time with a wrist fracture and a heel harm, and in 2023 he didn’t see sport motion till early August after having his UCL surgically reconstructed on his throwing arm. With the shoulder dislocation in simply his eighth sport for the Sox this yr, he’s nearly assuredly lacking a large chunk of the 2024 season whereas he recovers.
He’s been placed on the 10-day IL, but it surely’s nonetheless unclear whether or not he’ll want surgical procedure, however there must be extra data at present in some unspecified time in the future (will replace within the feedback if extra data is launched). This man will get harm a lot we should always begin calling him CM Punk, AMIRITE FOLKS?!?!?!?! (I’m not actually a wrestling fan however I do know sufficient to make this jab. Sure, I’m pandering!)
Whereas Story had underwhelmed with the stick in a small pattern (.224 AVG, .617 OPS, 1 R, 4 RBI), he was assuredly going to be a gradual supply of plate appearances for a Crimson Sox offense that seems improved by the acquisition of Tyler O’Neill (5 HR, 1.407 OPS). His bounce again must wait a bit longer.
Within the meantime, the Crimson Sox discover themselves at a Cross Rhodes. They recalled David Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester for added depth. Hamilton and Pablo Reyes have every gotten one begin at shortstop since Story’s harm, however heart fielder Cedanne Rafaela can be able to overlaying in Story’s absence.
That mentioned, Hamilton is a left-handed bat with near-elite velocity, and has stolen 129 bases spanning three ranges since 2022, together with 29 homers. Elite stolen base upside plus non-zero pop on the sturdy aspect of a platoon ought to serve him effectively, even when he finally ends up hitting close to the underside of that Crimson Sox lineup. I’m eyeing David Hamilton in my deeper leagues the place I’m combating steals.

Now, for another center infield information…
Oliver Dunn Continues Dunn Doing It
Dan Pants wrote an excellent little ditty about Oliver Dunn in the lead of his daily notes article on Friday, and what has Dunn accomplished (dun) since? Continued to spell doom for the Seattle Mariners pitching workers. Dunn tacked on two runs, an RBI, and one steal in a 12-4 blowout within the closing sport of the collection, elevating his OPS to .945 in simply 25 plate appearances.
Having gone to Sunday’s sport myself, Dunn seemed poised on the plate and has been stringing collectively some actually spectacular at bats within the early going. After hitting fifth or seventh in his first few video games, he was given a possibility to hit within the leadoff spot. Although he seems to be to have the Pedigree for the job, I wouldn’t anticipate him to stay up there since Christian Yelich had a time off, but it surely goes to point out simply how a lot new supervisor Pat Murphy appears to belief Dunn. I feel he’s a stable man to focus on in your deeper leagues when you think about the plentiful alternatives as of late, together with the hyper-aggressive philosophy the Brewers have exhibited on the basepaths. And hey, third base eligibility could be fairly sick too.
By God, That’s Francisco Lindor’s Music!
Francisco Lindor finally nabbed his first homer of the season on Sunday towards the Cincinnati Reds. Regardless of including a double to his tally, Lindor continues to be solely 3-for-36 to this point this season (.083) with a .403 OPS. His snail’s tempo offensively—very similar to the remainder of the Mets offense—has been regarding. Hopefully, Rock Backside has already been hit, and we are able to sit up for the form of manufacturing we’ve come to anticipate from Lindor.
Every other notable center infielders I missed that you’ve got questions on? Hit me up within the feedback and let’s hash it out.
