Unbeaten Jaime Munguia will tackle the not too long ago overwhelmed fringe contender John Ryder on January twenty seventh and live on DAZN in a brilliant middleweight battle that will probably be a check for the Golden Boy fighter to see if he’s able to problem for a world title in opposition to undisputed 168-lb champion Canelo Alvarez in Could.
If Munguia is victorious over the old-timer Ryder and appears spectacular, he’ll get the Canelo battle on Cinco de Mayo subsequent Could.
Munguia is on the verge of Canelo payday battle
After a decade, Munguia & Golden Boy are on the precipice of that cash battle, offered the 27-year-old Jaime shines in opposition to the #8 WBC, #10 IBF, and #10 WBO Ryder.
The previous WBO junior middleweight champion Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) and the 35-year-old ‘Gorilla’ Ryder (32-6, 18 KOs) in a twelve spherical foremost occasion on January twenty seventh on the Footprint Heart in Phoenix, Arizona.
Followers on social media aren’t too enthused concerning the ten-year professional Munguia preventing the not too long ago overwhelmed Ryder reasonably than a higher-ranked, unbeaten contender at 168.
Why match Munguia in opposition to an previous man who’s coming off a lopsided twelve spherical unanimous resolution loss to Canelo final Could in Mexico? The reply is apparent, isn’t it? That is all about cash.
Munguia is just too susceptible to be matched more durable than Ryder with out him shedding. Munguia virtually received beat in his final battle by 38-year-old Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
That battle was not aggressive, as Canelo was in first gear the entire approach, pot-shotting the sluggish Ryder with single energy pictures in a one-sided mismatch. The scores have been:
120-107
118-109
118-109
Munguia taking a backward step
That is arguably a backward step for the 27-year-old Munguia, as his final opponent, Sergiy Derevyanchenko, gave him pure hell of their battle final June, coming near beating the fastidiously groomed Mexican fighter.
Munguia’s twelfth spherical knockdown of the 38-year-old Derevyanchenko sealed his victory in a battle that seemed to be a draw going into that spherical.
The scores have been 114-113, 115-112 and 114-113. Given how razor shut that battle was, Munguia & Golden Boy Promotions could be higher off establishing a rematch reasonably than shifting Jaime to a lesser fighter within the sluggish, shot-looking John Ryder.
It’s broadly believed Golden Boy has been slowly constructing Munguia up for ten years, feeding him Hors d’oeuvre to construct up a fluff document to make him look higher than he’s for a cash-out battle in opposition to Canelo.
In different sports activities, groups must compete in opposition to the most effective to get to the massive recreation, however in boxing, it’s completely different. It’s all about matchmaking to offer the looks of being the most effective; in actuality, it’s fastidiously crafted strikes, manufacturing a fighter to make him look good.
Munguia is ranked #1 WBO and #2 WBC at tremendous middleweight regardless of solely preventing twice within the 168-lb division in opposition to Derevyanchenko and Irish fighter Jimmy Kelly.
