The NBA could also be pulling a Bud Selig-esque transfer.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Tuesday that the NBA Board of Governors has mentioned a proposal that will contain utilizing in-season match outcomes as a tiebreaker for the precise NBA playoffs.
The primary playoff tiebreaker is at present the common season head-to-head matchup outcome between groups. However Charania notes that the league is polling GMs on the potential for utilizing the spherical to which a crew advances within the in-season match as that first tiebreaker as an alternative. Different choices are reportedly on the desk too, together with utilizing the IST outcome as a lower-level tiebreaker (after the head-to-head outcome).
The NBA simply debuted the in-season match this season with the Los Angeles Lakers beating the Indiana Pacers within the December “championship” recreation. Although the league added in some incentives for the gamers to take it extra severely, the in-season match looks like a distant reminiscence now with the true playoffs about to start.
On the time of the this 12 months’s match, we heard some star players clamor for higher stakes similar to an automated playoff bid for the winner. Whereas the NBA might not be able to go fairly that far, it appears like an actual chance that future ISTs may have a hand in figuring out essential playoff seeding.
