Did Oregon quarterback Bo Nix simply give Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton his elevator pitch?
On a latest episode of former NFL QB and present ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III’s podcast, Nix revealed he would like to play for Denver.
“That will be a blast taking part in for a coach like that,” Nix stated on “RG3 and The Ones.” “He is recognized so much for what he and [former Saints QB] Drew Brees did collectively. It was fast recreation, get the ball out, timing stuff that I like to do. That is what we did so nice right here at Oregon.”
Like Brees – who has the second-highest completion share (67.7 %) in NFL historical past – Nix is correct. In his ultimate season with the Geese, he broke the NCCA’s completion share document (77.45% in 14 video games). This high quality could enchantment to Payton, who served as Saints HC from 2006-21.
Mike Klis of KUSA-TV in Denver earlier this week reported that Nix met with the Broncos on Tuesday, that means the group could also be within the 24-year-old signal-caller.
The Broncos may doubtlessly take Nix with the No. 12 total choose within the draft or wait to see if he falls. In his newest mock draft, The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman sees Denver buying the No. 27 total choose from the Arizona Cardinals to pick out the 2023 Heisman finalist.
“He is most likely one of the best resolution maker of the three (Pac 12 QBs),” a coach stated of Nix, per Feldman. “He can diagnose issues in a short time. He would not have the arm expertise that [Washington’s Michael Penix Jr.] and [Southern Cal’s Caleb Williams] have, however I do not know that he is too far off.”
Denver desperately wants a quarterback. Presumed starter Jarrett Stidham went 1-1 in two begins final season, finishing 60.6 percent of his passes for 496 yards, two touchdowns, one choose and a below-average 31.1 QBR. Backup Ben DiNucci has made one start in his profession.
Do not be stunned if the Broncos goal Nix within the draft, particularly after he appeared to go with Payton.
